SAN JOSE VETERINARIAN
Veterinarian Care with Heart
We Treat Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, and Pocket Pets
33 Years of Veterinarian experience in caring for your pets. At our San Jose and Sunnyvale Veterinarian Hospitals we believe your pet is an important part of your family, and is treated as such. At our animal clinic we feel strongly that animals can and do make life better for us, and that we have an obligation to make their lives as good as we can.
We believe in a personal, caring, friendly pet hospital. It is like a family here, and we like to get to know each other.
We believe in giving you options on treatments and informing and educating you so that you can make intelligent decisions on these options. Our veterinarians, Dr. Penelope Bowden, Dr. Maryssa Chiarello, and Dr. Kevin Nagel are here to serve you at Lincoln Avenue Vet Clinic in San Jose. Dr. Paul Umeda, Dr. Michelle Gonsolin, and Dr. Megan Nakagawa are waiting to serve your pets needs at Arroyo Animal Clinic in Sunnyvale.
Both Lincoln Ave Veterinary Clinic and Arroyo Animal Clinic now have digital radiology. This high tech tool means that your pets will be able to benefit from all the advantages digital radiology has to offer. These benefits include the ability to manipulate the image in ways that can make diagnosis of your pet’s problem(s) easier. We can alter the brightness, contrast, reverse phase the image (show a “negative” image), zoom in or out, which can allow us to find things we would not have otherwise. This also means we don’t have many “repeat” exposures, if the settings on the x-ray machine weren’t quite right, or the film processor has a problem. We can compensate for these things now using the technology. We can more easily have your pet’s x-rays reviewed by a board certified radiologist if we have any questions about what might be going on with your pet. You can get a copy of the image on CD so that you can look at it at home, show your family, or bring the images to a specialist, if that is needed.
Overall, we are very excited and pleased to be able to have this available for your valued, loved, furry family members, and hope you will as well.
Pyometra, which literally means pus in the uterus, is most commonly diagnosed in intact adult female dogs 1 to 4 months following an estrous cycle(“heat cycle”). This disease condition
is hormonally-driven. The hormones result in development of the uterine tissue, increased sevretions, and decreased contraction of the uterine muscles. There is also an effect on the
white blood cells ( the cells that help fight inflammation and infection) in the uterus, supporting growth of bacteria. Several breeds of dogs have been shown to have an increased risk for
developing pyometra, including Golden Retrievers, miniature Schnauzers, Irish terriers, Saint Bernards, Airedale terriers, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Rough-Coasted Collies, Rottweilers, and
Bernese Mountain dogs. More
